Peruvian trade group suggests $1 billion shrimp investmentWednesday, November 15, 2017 > 10:17:30
A seafood-focused trade group in Peru has suggested that the country's shrimp farmers invest nearly $1 billion to dramatically step up the sector's productivity and capability, the newspaper Expreso reported.
The investment, according to the Comité de Pesca y Acuicultura de la Asociación de Exportadores, known by its Spanish abbreviation Adex, would allow for the country to pursue intensive shrimp cultivation.
"Now, the objective is to provide a better supply of exports that will allow us to reach optimal conditions for new markets; above all the biggest is China," Henry Quiroz, the group's president said.
