A partnership of the country's top fashion professionals showcased its collections at Peru Moda & Peru Gift Show 2017, the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) reported Thursday.
Composed of Peru's 17 leading fashion talents, the Alliance of Peruvian Designers presented its creations to 350 international purchasers.
The Alliance seeks to develop the Inca nation's fashion industry and take it to different markets around the world.
Peruvian fashion institutionalization
In this sense, the group is tasked with institutionalizing Peruvian fashion, allowing for good design and business practices, as well as building synergies for corporate sales and designer consortiums.
"[…] We designers have come to understand unity will help us achieve common objectives and further develop the fashion industry, just as our country deserves," said the Alliance's spokeswoman and designer Meche Correa.
On the other hand, PromPeru Exports Director Luis Torres affirmed the initiative "marks the beginning of a new path for the internationalization of Peruvian fashion."
Peru's fashion elite led the exhibit Peru Textiles, a cohesive, harmonious collection designed specifically to start internationalizing the country's textile and fashion offer.
In addition to Meche Correa, the Alliance of Peruvian Designers comprises: Titi Guiulfo, Claudia Bertolero, Jercy Gutierrez, Ani Alvarez Calderon, Sitka Semsch, Jessica Butrich, Andrea Llosa, Ana Maria Guiulfo, Amaro Casanova, Giuliana Testino, Sergio Davila, Sumy Kujon, Edward Venero, Jose Clemente, Fatima Arrieta and Jorge Luis Salinas.
Correa informed the group will later open a call to incorporate more members.
Peru Moda and Peru Gift Show are organized by PromPeru with the support of the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex), Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL), as well as the National Society of Industries (SNI).
