CBSA Organizational ChangesThursday, July 10, 2014 > 08:18:06
We are writing to share with you some important organizational changes that the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is making to better deliver on its mandate.
As discussed at our recent BCCC meeting, on June 2, 2014 the former Pre-Border and Border Programs Directorates were realigned as the new Commercial Program and Traveller Program Directorates under the leadership of Directors General Megan Imrie and Arianne Reza, respectively. Both directorates are comprised of three divisions focused on program integrity: (1) Program Policy and Management; (2) Program Performance and Reporting; and (3) Programs Compliance and Outreach. In addition, each directorate will be supported by an executive director, responsible for advancing the directorate’s transformation agenda, supported by divisions organized by modes. We have attached a branch organizational chart for your reference.
This new structure better aligns with the CBSA’s commercial and traveller business lines. It will also allow the Agency to reduce fragmentation and simplify workflows, optimise capacity and executive leadership to support our program integrity and transformation agenda, and position the CBSA to be more effective in engaging with our partners, which is increasingly important for advancing key files. On a very practical level, it will also be simpler for you to connect with the right areas to address your concerns and advance our shared agenda.
The CBSA enjoys a strong relationship with the private sector through a number of consultative bodies, like the Border Commercial Consultative Committee, and these relationships are integral to CBSA program development work. There is significant work to do in the months ahead, and we look forward to working with you to make progress on our key priorities. We are confident that this new organizational structure will facilitate that progress.
