The Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) has continued to win global recognition, it was said.

The Director General of Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE), Mrs Jacqueline Maleko, said since DITF became a member of the Unione Federation Internationale, the Global Association for the Exhibition Industry, DITF has increasingly been accepted internationally and its standards have gone up.

"For three years now inspectors from the UFI have been visiting and inspecting the fair as to whether they qualify internationally and its standards have proven to rise over the years," said Mrs Maleko.

Addressing exhibitors at a one-day seminar on laws and regulations for participants in the 38th DITF, Mrs Maleko said that the exhibitors have to work on variety of things so as to ensure that they are acquiring huge success through their participation.

"The seminar will enlighten you on several topics including medical emergency response, safety and precautions measures, tax compliance, pre-shipment verification of conformity to standards and the role of regulatory authorities," she said.

Mrs Maleko said that 490 international companies and 1,700 local companies will participate in this year's show.

Countries that will participate include South Africa, Australia, Belarua, Brazil, Denmark, Ghana, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Egypt, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Rwanda and Singapore.

Others are South Korea, Burundi, China, Sudan, Syria, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
