Investors from Andhra Pradesh have been invited to participate in the 29th Trade Expo Indonesia, an international exhibition being held from October 8 to 12 at Jakarta to know about latest premium, quality and export-ready products and services from 2,000 exhibitors.

During interaction with representatives from CII, Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Visakha Container Terminal and Brandix India Apparel City, Consul (Economics/Head of Chancery) of Indonesia Hariayanta Soetarto said that one could choose their business partner to boost bilateral ties by taking part in the expo.

In an interview to The Hindu on Tuesday, he said as a friendly nation, Indonesia was providing visa on arrival. It was also offering ample opportunities to own and explore minerals including coal.

On the efforts to tide over economy slowdown, he said compared to 15 years ago, Indonesia was now politically and economically stronger and more stable. “The economic and social indicators show that Indonesia is a new giant with the rank of 16 in the world. Thus, Indonesia’s role in the international and regional relationship has become more active and more dominant,” he said.

He said to expedite the process of sustainable economic growth the Indonesian Government in recent past had developed and implemented a Master Plan for acceleration and expansion of economic development and to transform Indonesia into one of the 10 major economies in the world by 2025 with 22 promising sectors.

Mr. Soetarto said foreign investors were welcome to choose their desired sectors and preferred regions according to their business interest. In bilateral trade relations, Indonesia and India enjoy better relations. Implementation of ASEAN-India Free Trade Agreement (AIFTA) had contributed a lot to increase trade relations between the two nations, he said.
