The Ecuadorian Minister of Foreign Trade, Francisco Rivadeneira, and the Ambassador of Canada, Pamela O'Donnell, discussed on June 17th the commercial opportunities that the Canadian market offers to small and medium enterprises in Ecuador and the importance of Canada's cooperation in Ecuador.
The meeting was held because of the visit of the Canadian Agency for International Development (TFO for its acronym in English) to Ecuador in order to promote a five-year program focused on facilitating access to the Canadian market and training of small and medium enterprises in Ecuador.
To this end, the TFO and PRO ECUADOR will be conducting training seminars for entrepreneurs in the sectors of fisheries, aquaculture, flowers, fruits, vegetables, processed foods and crafts. In these trainings, they will discuss issues such as the size of the Canadian market, access opportunities, consumer trends and the services provided by the TFO.
TFO Canada is a governmental non-profit organization that assists exporters from developing countries to enter the Canadian market. It provides information, counselling and contact with trade support institutions.
During his stay in the country, the agency representatives will also meet with local chambers and associations as Fedexpor, the Chamber of Industry, Corpei and representatives of organizations of the People's Solidarity Economy.
PRO ECUADOR has an agreement with the TFO since 2012, which establishes a framework for cooperation and technical assistance focused on institutional strengthening and promoting trade to Canada. As a result, they have organized several trainings to access the Canadian market and have applied to non-refundable Canadian funds for specific projects to promote access for the country's export supply products.
