Ms. Ping Kitnikone, Ambassador of Canada to Vietnam, said that Canada has recently provided 15 million USD for small and medium enterprises in Vietnam to cope with climate change.
This information was given on the occasion of the Canadian Independence Day (July 1), as well as the Canada's 150th anniversary of Confederation.
At the ceremony, Ms. Ping Kitnikone stressed: Canada has always been a partner of Vietnam for over 40 years. The cooperation relationship between the two countries has been on many fields. On the trading, over the past two years, Vietnam has become the largest partner of Canadain ASEAN. This relationship has brought total bilateral trade worth more than 5.5 billion USD in 2016.
In the past year, Canada has strengthened its cooperation in important fields of Vietnam as projects recently announced: 15.3 million Canadian dollars for a food safety project;15 milllion Canadian dollars for assisting small and medium-sized enterprises to respond to climate change; and a grant of 200 million Canadian dollars through the Asian Development Bank to encourage the private sector in mitigation and adaptation to climate change in Asia and the Pacific Ocean.
