Students who won scholarships under the African Business Education (ABE) initiative have been advised to focus on trade and investments during their studies in Japan to bring an impact when they return home.
The call was made yesterday in Dar es Salaam by the Japanese Ambassador to Tanzania, Masaharu Yoshida, during a send off ceremony of the third batch of students under the ABE initiative. He said the private sector has a lot to contribute to Tanzania's economy and therefore the students should focus on that area to bring impact. "While undertaking your studies in Japan make sure you also focus on trade and investment and not just aid.
As you are all aware, the Fifth Phase Government focus is on reviving industries in Tanzania," he noted. The envoy said 2016 is a special year for Africa-Japan partnership as the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) will take place in Nairobi at the end of this month.
Explaining further, he said while TICAD has always been the centre for development partnership between Africa and Japan since its inception in 1993, greater attention has now been given to trade and investment as the ABE initiative symbolizes.
