Inter-regional confidence plays a very important role in carrying the Economic and Trade Agreements forward and it requires the private sector intervention on a large scale, according to the Minister Public Enterprise Development Kabir Hashim.

He said Sri Lanka failed to achieve its goal through several bilateral agreements during the previous time as they were not implemented properly by the then administration.

Addressing a Ministerial Session at the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum in Jakarta he said, Sri Lanka has paved the way for foreign investors in Sri Lanka to export their productions made in Sri Lanka on a duty-free basis.

Minister also assured to further strengthen the remaining trade relations between Sri Lanka and other states under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena.
