Sri Lanka will host this year's World Export Development Forum, the annual flagship event of the International Trade Centre (ITC) which is a joint agency of the World Trade Organization and the United Nations.
It is proposed to hold the 16th World Export Development Forum (WEDF) with the participation of all stakeholders related to trade in the world in Colombo on 12th and 13th October 2016.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal made by Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrema, to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the ITC and the EDB to host the WEDF 2016 by Sri Lanka with the financial contribution of the ITC.
The forum, jointly organized by the ITC and the Export Development Board (EDB) Sri Lanka will be held under the theme "Trade for Success: Connect, Compete, Change".
The event will highlight the country's openness to international business and path towards an improved business environment.
Within the WEDF 2016 the ITC and EDB will organize facilitated B2B meetings enabling opportunities for companies around the world to meet potential business partners.
B2B meetings will cater to the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), Tourism, Specialty Food, Tea and Spices, Processed Food, Apparel, Rubber, and Manufacturing.
