Ecuadorian Government reported today an increase in the export of services, with an annual average growth of 11.8 percent in the recent years. "This way, export of services exceeds the revenue accounted by the supply of bananas since 2010", said the governmental website El Ciudadano, official media of La Revolucion Ciudadana, political project fostered by President Rafael Correa since he took on power in 2007.
These were some of the results recently presented at the International Seminar "Sharing Experiences for Measurement and Record of the Export of Services", held in Ecuador seeking to exchange experiences, good practices and define guidelines for further actions.
According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade Silvana Vallejo micro and small companies were the ones that contributed the most to the export of services and they favored the creation of thousands of jobs.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade of Ecuador highlighted seven areas with export potential: software, construction, advertising-audiovisual, consultancy, logistics, teaching Spanish and university education.
According to data issued by the Central Bank, the positive outcome left by export of services rose from $1.47 billion USD in 2010 to 2.33 billion USD in 2014.
