Longo抯 named Family Enterprise of the YearWednesday, May 27, 2015 > 09:29:22
The Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE) has named Longo's Brothers Fruit Markets as the Central Ontario Family Enterprise of the Year. The award recognizes significant achievements made within a Central Ontario family enterprise.
"Longo's is a model success story for family businesses everywhere," said Allen Taylor, president of CAFE Central Ontario. "This is a flourishing family business that has first, second and third generations of the family working together and imbues all customer and employee relations with a personal touch.”
To be eligible for the award, the company must be Canadian, multi-generational and employ more than one family member. A committee comprised of members of the Central Ontario Advisory Board of Directors selected Longo's based on six categories: Family Business 101, Business Family Governance & Continuity, Growth, Culture & Community, Sharing through CAFE Experience and the 'X factor.'
"We're honoured to be recognized as an example of one of Ontario's leading family businesses," said Rosanne Longo, brand ambassador and spokesperson, Longo's Brothers Fruit Markets. "The world has changed a lot since my father and two uncles opened their first store almost 60 years ago and we've stayed true to their vision and values while expanding throughout southwestern Ontario."
Longo's operates 27 full service grocery stores across the GTA as well as Grocery Gateway, the leader in online sales of home-delivered groceries.
Much of Longo's success stems from the family members behind the brand, Taylor said. “Family pride is evident from the quality of the local foods carried, the respect for the employees and their families and the commitment to exceeding the expectations of customers in terms of service and inventory," Taylor says.
The FEYA will be presented on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Longo's Southeast Oakville location.
