(Undercurrent News)

Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has warned that the Southeast Asian nation’s shrimp industry risks losing market share if a trend of antibiotic-related export rejections continues, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

In the first four months of this year, the United States, Japan and the European Union rejected 36 Vietnamese shrimp shipments with antibiotic levels exceeding what is permitted, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade said Tuesday, the news outlet reported.

The lion’s share of refused rejections came from the United States, which turned back 25, the news outlet reported. Japan refused seven and the European Union refused four.
