The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism applauds the performance of Peruvian pisco in the international market.
Chile might be fighting with Peru to maintain its right to use the word “pisco” but it is still enjoying drinking Peruvian pisco at the same time.
In a report by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva, informed that Chile, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Colombia were the main markets for the grape liquor in 2014.
Silva announced that over the last five years, Peru’s pisco exports increased by 168% with sales of over US$ 5.5 million, according to Andina news agency.
“Nowadays, more than 80 companies meet the demand of 85 international markets,” said the minister.
Branches of the Ministry, Promperu and Peru’s Commercial Offices abroad are looking to secure the participation of companies and producers at Expo Peru South Korea and Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, United States.
Meanwhile in Lima, pisco fans are looking forward to celebrating at the 18th edition of the National Pisco Festival in Chorrillos from July 17-19. One hundred ten producers and 9,000 attendees are expected to be a part of the much anticipated event.
