Jordan will participate in SIAL Canada 2015 International Food and Beverage Trade Show due to be held in Toronto April 28-30.
The Chairman of the Jordan Exporters Association (JEA), Omar Abu Wishah, said the exhibit is an opportunity for national products to reach "promising" export markets, particularly those associated with Jordan through Free Trade Agreements (FTA).
Also, he highlighted the importance of the show, specialized in food industry in north America, citing the fact that in 2014, the total number of visitors the fair received were 14,000 businessmen from 60 countries, while exhibitors' number reached 700 and they represented 45 countries.
Further, he said the Canadian market is one of the most important markets for the Jordanian food industry because of the large presence of Arabs in the north American country, and the Jordan-Canada FTA which came into effect in 2013, the first such pact signed by Canada with an Arab country.
"What made Jordanian companies participate in the exhibit is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Trade Facilitation Office Canada which extends until mid 2018", Wishah added.
He said the MoU aims to help Jordanian companies from various sectors to access the Canadian market and to take advantage of available opportunities.
