Burma (Myanmar) Is Now Eligible for Canada's General Preferential Tariff and Least Developped Country Tariff Treatment

The Canadian Government has just announced that effective March 13, 2015, General Preferential Tariff (GPT) treatment and Least Developed Country (LDC) Tariff treatment are now extended to Burma (Myanmar).

A claim for GPT must be accompanied by a Certificate of Origin Form A or an Exporter’s Statement of Origin signed by the exporter in Burma. The goods must meet the GPT rules of origin and be shipped directly or indirectly from Burma to Canada on a through bill of lading.

A claim for LDC for textile and apparel product must be accompanied by a Certificate of Origin Form B255 signed by the exporter in Burma. The goods must meet the GPT rules of origin and be shipped directly or indirectly from Burma to Canada on a through bill of lading.
