Adventure Shopping Show launches on The Shopping Channel
New Vodou collection by Haitian artisans first to be featured on the program
Toronto, ON (March 19, 2015) – On March 27, 2015 at 9 p.m. ET (check local listings), The Shopping Channel is launching Brand[TRADE]’s Adventure Shopping show. Viewers will be able to shop the world’s most exotic places from the comfort of their own homes. The first edition, Adventure Shopping - The Soul of Haiti features a collection of home products inspired by ancient design traditions flowing from Haitian culture. Adventure Shopping is developed in partnership with Brand[TRADE], a Canadian international trade and marketing company.
“Adventure Shopping is about inspiring viewers with cultural experiences, and providing Canadians with easy access to some of the extraordinary artwork produced by artisans around the world,” says Cameron Brohman, Co-Founder of Brand[TRADE]. “Buying one of these unique products allows Canadians to create a direct connection with the people who created it and the culture that inspirited it.”
The story of the artisans and the products they created will be showcased in the 30-minute documentary, Shopping New Vodou, airing Friday, March 27 at 8:30 p.m. ET on City (check local listings) and OMNI 1. The documentary follows a team of Canadian marketing experts who collaborate with the artisans to create products entrenched in the Haitian culture. The product line, called New Vodou, is a collection of one-of-a-kind products crafted by master artisans of an ancient tradition that will inspire Canadians to see both Haiti, and the Vodou religion, more positively and accurately. The collection of Haitian products will come to life in this film narrative of the artisans’ lives, communities and art.
“In Haiti, artisan producers struggle to get to market, to be properly recognized and rewarded for their culture and their unique creations. Adventure Shopping provides them with a new platform to showcase their talents,” says Brohman. “Shopping New Vodou combined with the launch of Adventure Shopping is precedent-setting. It is bringing the stories of four Haitian artisan groups, and their handmade art, to over 11 million Canadian households.”
