Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Magali Silva, estimated the services exports would triple from US$5.814 billion (2014) to US$18.00 billion (2025) after the implementation of the National Strategic Exports Plan (PENX).
This way, the exports of services will become a new and important engine for Peruvian economy, by generating 55% of the GDP, Silva told.
The head of the Ministry made these statements while visiting the Thomas Greg & Sons plant in Peru, owned by the company dedicated to the manufacture of products featuring high security characteristics.
Thomas Greg & Sons de Perú is headquartered in Lima, in the southern district of Lurín to be more presicised.
It is dedicated to printing of high security documents, such as identity documents (ID card), official certificates, license plates, among others.
“This enterprise is a clear signal Peru is not wrong when promoting the development of services exports, since [the amount] worth over US$20 million, invested by Thomas Greg & Sons enable to create products and services, recognized with international awards,” she reminded.
According to the Minister, the entrerprise is working on the implementation of the ISO 1400, 1800 and 27001, and seeking to participate in tenders in Mexico and Parguay.
That was possible due to the Peruvian presence at the Peru Service Summit in 2014, which enabled to concretize deals over US$20 million for the elaboration of biometric passports.
Peru Service Summit is the most important business platform for the promotion of services exports in the South American Pacific coast.
This way, Promperú (Peru Export and Tourism Promotion Board) supports some one-hundred companies like this in their internationalization processes, indicated Silva.
The company also exports goods to: Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay.
