The second Africa Pharmaceutical Summit is to be held in Accra on February 11 and 12, 2015, at Accra’s Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel to provide public and private sector leaders the opportunity to enhance multi-stakeholder cooperation.

The Summit would run alongside the PHARMATECH AFRICA Exhibition, which also starts on the 11 to 13 February, 2015.

A statement from the organisers to the GNA said the exhibition was focussed on pharmaceutical products, formulation, raw materials, active ingredients, processing machinery, packaging machinery and equipment.

“By combining the two events, we aim to provide a comprehensive opportunity for stakeholders to interact, exchange, network and share,” said Miles Mudzviti, Managing Director, PharmaAfrica.

The Summit is a platform for public/private cooperation that is cross disciplinary and involves different ministry portfolios, including Health and Industry & Trade as well as different stakeholders.

The Summit convenes public and private sector leaders with the objective to enhance multi-stakeholder cooperation and provide added momentum to progress on issues relating to pharmaceutical sector development by particularly working on the public-private interface of these issues.

The Summit is organised with support from United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, Ministries of Industry and Trade and Health, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association in Ghana as well as the regional industry body, and the Federation of African Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations.

With attendees already confirmed from Ghana, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, United States of America, Argentina, South Africa, Kenya, France and India, this is the leading Pan-African event designed to provide unique opportunities to interact with like-minded professionals, network and share the latest information.

The SUMMIT offers companies a valuable networking opportunity to dialogue with key public and private sector leaders, exchange ideas and information, and discuss new opportunities for their businesses.

The co-located Pharmatech Africa Exhibition showcases the latest product innovations, equipment and services, with exhibitors ranging from chemical and raw material suppliers, plant and equipment to packaging machinery and formulations.

Individuals can benefit from free entry into the exhibition, which encourages professional development with learning programmes scheduled throughout the event.

“A number of FREE technical seminars will take place through Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th which are delivered by various international bodies and companies, themed around critical areas of pharmaceutical manufacturing from packaging to prequalification of products,” said Mudzviti.
