Agreement has been reached to sign a joint memorandum of understanding between the trade unions and the management of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority to increase the salaries of ports authority employees. The trade union leaders who met minister Arjuna Ranatunga yesterday have consented to this agreement. Under this agreement the trade unions will be obliged to raise the production process and the output of the port activities in line with the increase of salaries. At this meeting, Minister Ranatunga pointed out that the port employees as well as the management should cooperate responsibly to end the era of depending on the treasury funds.
