Minister of State Bernier Tours Canadian Car Parts Manufacturing Facility in Colombia

Tuesday, August 12, 2014 > 08:49:37

(Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada)

The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism, and Agriculture), visits the production facility of APSA Group Automotive Plastics to learn more about how this company, a collaborative undertaking between Canadian and Colombian manufacturers, feeds into the automotive parts supply chain.

APSA, a joint venture by Windsor, Ontario-based Papp Plastics International and a Colombian consortium, supplies bumpers for passenger vehicles in both Colombia and neighbouring Ecuador. This state-of-the-art facility uses primarily Canadian machinery, which stimulates manufacturing in Canada.

Papp Plastics, founded in 1991, develops and manufactures moulded plastic products through its operations in Windsor and strategic joint ventures in the United States and throughout Latin America.

Minister Bernier is in Colombia jointly leading a trade mission with International Trade Minister Ed Fast from August 10 to 13, 2014. The mission includes representatives of Canadian companies in the mining, oil and gas, and defence and security sectors.
