Canadians shine during Professional Floral Designer EvaluationsTuesday, July 29, 2014 > 10:12:55
Four Canadians earned their Certified Floral Designer credential during the American Institute of Floral Designers' Professional Floral Designer Evaluation earlier this month.
Canadian Florist would like to congratulate:
- Judy Barrett, CFD, of Ocean Park Flowers in Surrey, B.C.
- Gemma Lee, CFD, of Seneca College in Toronto
- Kelsey Marshall, CFD, of Grower Direct in Grande Prairie, Alta.
- Gordon Fulton, CFD, of Victoria's Flowers & Gifts in Didsbury, Alta.
All four designers participated in the PFDE session on July 2, immediately prior to the AIFD National Symposium Transition Transformation in Chicago. During the PFDE candidates must create five designs in four hours. These designs are evaluated on ten points of professional floral design, including mechanics, balance, colour, theme, line, creativity and mechanics.
Two other Canadians, Yong Hee Petrik, CFD, of Mississauga, and Aniko Kovacs, CFD, of Garlands Florist in Vancouver, were among the 24 designers who maintained their CFD credentials this year.
Both Marshall and Kovacs were also invited to become accredited members of AIFD. They will be inducted during the 2015 AIFD National Symposium Journey, taking place from June 30 to July 4, 2015 in Denver.
