The popularity of Ethiopian flowers has been growing in European markets from day-to-day, a Dutch floriculture company disclosed.
According to Herburg Roses Company, a farm cultivating flowers around Ziway town of Oromia Region, the export flower produces of Ethiopia are well-liked in Europe.
Company Managing Director, Hubert Wilhelmina Maria Van Der Burg told ENA the demand for Ethiopian flower is created by improving the types and quality of flowers produced in the country.
He said the Herburg Roses Ethiopia in particular is exporting 22 types of flowers, thus giving wide-ranging alternatives to the European market.
This had its own contribution to make Europeans focus on Ethiopian produces, according to the General Manager.
The produces that were sent only to the Netherlands are now also exported to the UK and Russia as the market reach has been expanding, he elaborated.
Herburg Roses Ethiopia Human Resources Manager, Mohammed Seid, for his part said the company is supplying quality flowers in quantity to the European market by undertaking farm expansion works.
As a result, it has won a prize for quality flowers from the European Union, meeting international and European standards, he pointed out.
According to the manager, the award would boost the demand for Ethiopian flowers in Europe and internationally.
Besides making Ethiopian flowers popular, Herburg Roses Ethiopia has created jobs to many citizens, he added.
