Artisans in non-industrialized countries continue to produce craft products drawing from their own cultures and craft traditions. Internationally, $200 million (USD) is currently traded in crafts each year.  Although access to markets in industrialized countries is often difficult to attain, consumers in wealthy, post-industrialized countries are seeking the feeling of a continued link with traditional cultures and the value of goods made by people.

The rise in ethical consumerism means a growing demand for accountability. Consumers are no longer willing to take part in exploitive relationships between producers and distributors, exporters or retailers. They want to be certain that their money is reaching the people who make the goods.  As just one of the strengths of smaller producers in international markets you can build on while developing the quality of products that you are exporting.

To learn more about these opportunities, your are hereby invited by the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association and TFO Canada, with the support of the GO Invest and the Guyana Arts & Craft Producers Association, to join us for this informative Seminar on the Canadian and North American Market for Gifts and Crafts presented by world renown design expert, Patty Johnson.

Topics to be covered will include:

  • Trends in the Marketplace
  • Product Development
  • Artisan and Design Case Studies
  • Market Avenues
  • Our Guyana Program

Following the Seminar you will have the opportunity to meet one-to-one* with Ms. Johnson to discuss your company, products and ideas for exporting to Canada, North America and/or elsewhere. In addition to providing her extensive insight and advice regarding artisanal products, trends and the export markets, Ms. Johnson will also be selecting four to eight companies with whom she will work in product development over the course of the following months.  Theses selected companies may also have the chance to participate in a final trade mission to Canada at the end of the Product Development phase.

Note: To set up a One-to-One Meeting, be sure to check off the “I want a One-to-one meeting with Ms. Johnson” box and specify your time availability.
