We are pleased to invite you to a series of seminars to be held in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver from the 17th to the 22nd of November 2008. In collaboration with the Embassies of Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and the leadership of the Rwanda Investments and Export Promotion Agency (RIEPA), CCAfrica will be hosting a large delegation from the 5 countries of the East Africa Union.
This will be a first. In reading the attached documentation you will realize the importance of the Union, it’s large population and market place encompassing over 120 million people. I encourage you to come to this event to learn more about each country and the Union as well as the investments and trade opportunities.
The attached document contains 3 pieces, the description of the mission, the registration form and the program of the Seminar that will be held in each city.

Trade and Investment Opportunities
East Africa - One Market, One Destination
Montreal - Nov. 17

These seminars will explore new opportunities for investment partnerships across East Africa, including Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Burundi. The theme of the event is ‘Trade and Investment Opportunities: East Africa – One Market, One Destination’ and will look at East Africa’s progress towards a single market of 120 million citizens, with an estimated US $30 billion market potential. The seminar will also help to identify the best investment opportunities for creation of greater wealth in East Africa.
The East African Union aims at achieving its goals and objectives through:
• promotion of a sustainable growth and equitable development of the region, including rational utilisation of the region's natural resources and protection of the environment;
• strengthening and consolidation of the longstanding political, economic, social, cultural and traditional ties and associations between the peoples of the region in promoting a people-centred mutual development;
• enhancement and strengthening of participation of the private sector and civil society;
• mainstreaming of gender in all its programmes and enhancement of the role of women in development;
• promotion of good governance, including adherence to the principles of democracy, rule of law, accountability, transparency, social justice, equal opportunities and gender equality; and
• promotion of peace, security and stability within the region and good In each city, there will be a workshop where each country will make a presentation of the needs and opportunities for Canadians to work in these regions. The delegation from East Africa will be composed of senior people from each country who will be available for 1 on 1 meetings at both the seminar and the subsequent day in each city. We have attached a general program which will be conducted in each city.
