As a company involved in international trade, your company can benefit from the information that will be presented at I.E.Canada's upcoming conference. The Emerging Issues in Customs Conference will feature senior level government representatives from Canada and U.S. customs departments who will provide the latest developments on the various customs programs available including the Partners in Protection program, Customs Self Assessment, e-manifest/ACE and C-TPAT.  In addition, we have included various companies involved in these customs programs to share their experiences and offer tips to their industry colleagues on how to implement and ensure a smoother movement of goods across international borders. For a complete listing of topics and speakers, please view our conference brochure by visiting I.E.Canada's website: http://www.iecanada.com/events.html.
Program Highlight - Best Practices of Global Customs Risk Management - Tuesday, April 24th
Risk management has emerged among global traders as a primary objective of corporate import functions, and companies are increasingly undertaking efforts to proactively manage customs risks on a coordinated, global basis. This presentation will report on the findings from the 2006 Ernst & Young Global Customs Best Practices Symposium: key executives from a wide range of industries explored what global proactive risk management of the import functions looks like in practice, and identified leading practices. By attending this session, you will learn how globalization has increased customs risk and amplified the burden of regulatory and corporate compliance. The session will also outline steps companies can take to manage their global customs risks more effectively.
Topics include:
- Global risk assessment models and methods
- Managing jurisdictional diversities
- Impact of business change activities on customs risk
- Auditing and monitoring activities
Speaker: William (Bill) Methenitis, Americas Director, Customs & International Trade, Ernst & Young LLP
