Connecting With Canadian Importers


TFO offers a free service that provides exposure of your company and products directly to Canadian Importers. Register with us to receive this free service. By registering you will also gain access to richer content available at this website. In order to be eligible for this service you must meet the following basic criteria: 
·         You company is based in one of TFO’s Client countries;
·         Your business is a small or medium sized enterprise;
·         You have at least one year’s export experience (not necessarily to exporting Canada or even a developed nation, but at minimum to a neighbouring country);
·         Your products are not prohibited (no arms or munitions, products made by children labour, etc. – see Prohibited Importations or the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) for details);

Trade Shows
Find “Exhibitor Lists” or “Participant” list at trade show websites found via www.tsnn.comhttp://www.eventseye.com/

Trade Publications
Most industry sectors in Canada have very detailed trade publications that are not only extremely useful for learning more about the market (trends, styles, opportunities, etc.), but are great sources for buyer and other industry related contacts. Subscription costs and possible restrictions (delivery, etc.) must be investigated and considered for each.   Many of the main ones also offer a Buyer’s Guide which are normally published annually and which can be obtained for a separate fee.

Other Resources
 
Enlist the services of your foreign trade office at your Embassy or High Commission in Canada. They might maintain lists of importers and other relevant contacts or may be otherwise able to assist you in your search.  International and bilateral Chambers of Commerce (find at: www.worldchambers.com or www.iccwbo.org) and business organizations can also be very useful in finding contacts in Canada. Industry Associations (in Canada, find at www.micromedia.ca) and regional Chambers of Commerce in Canada (find at http://www.chamber.ca/ and/or online-chamber.com) may be useful resource in your investigation.  Finally, be sure to investigate the "Countries" Section of http://www.intracen.org for additional resources in your country or for any specific country internationally.
